In it are valuable books
fîhi kutubun qayyimatun

and I met a friend of mine
fa-wajadtu sadîqan li

fa-tasâfahna wa tahaddathna
He asked me: Where do you work?
sa’alani: ayna ta‘malu?
and since when do you work?
wa mundhu matâ ta‘malu?
I, therefore, replied and said:

and for years,
wa mundhu sanawâtin
and praise be to Allah
wa al-hamdu lillâhi
